I hope you are all staying warm! We have been having really cold temps but I am thankful that we haven’t had the ice and snow storms that have been plaguing other parts of the country.
This letter is my last as your section chair. After the beginning of 2014, Patti Gorr will be stepping up into the chair position. I know that Patti will do a great job. I feel confident that I am leaving you in very capable hands. However, I will continue to participate on the board for the section.
Our December program meeting had a great turnout considering that it was a bit of a drive for some of the members of the section. We had 10 attendees at the Rexnord plant tour in Grafton, which happens to be my place of employment. One of my colleagues, Andy Ravn, Rexnord Manufacturing Manager, gave a presentation introducing the attendees to Rexnord and showcased some of our products along with some of the results of Kaizen events that we do for continuous improvement. After the presentation, Andy led us on a tour of the manufacturing, assembly areas and the tool room. Immediately following, the group had dinner at Flipside Café just a few blocks away from the plant. It was a casual setting and relaxed feel with some good food and a little networking.
For the January program meeting, we are headed back north to Green Bay. The meeting is scheduled for the 13th of January and will be held at Little Rapids in Green Bay with dinner to follow at 1951 West. Check out the website for details and to register.
The board is still looking for advisers to help brainstorm some new ideas for program meetings. Make more out of your ASQ membership and participate on the board. There are still some open chair positions to be filled. Come to a meeting and see what it’s all about. Board meetings are typically held the 4th Monday of the month and the location rotates between Fond du Lac and Appleton. We’ll even pay for your dinner. Details can be found on the website or contact any board member with questions.
I have enjoyed having the opportunity to lead our section for the last 2 ½ years. It has been a very educational experience for me and I have had the pleasure of working with some great people. We do have a lot of great people on the Section 1206 board. We are very fortunate for that.
Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
