(Can you tell I’m excited about the beautiful weather we are having? I’m using exclamation points so
freely!!) For starters, I wasn’t able to make it to the March program meeting at IPS Testing Lab but I
heard a lot of positive feedback from the board members at the last board meeting. It sounds like we
had another great program meeting. Thanks to everyone that made the meeting a success.
Instead of a program meeting in April, we will be hosting a Spring Conference at Liberty Hall in
Kimberly, WI. This year’s conference has a much different format than past years. We wanted to focus
on several different topics for the conference based on the survey that was done in the fall. The day will
be broken up into 2 sessions with lunch being served in between. You can sign up for either the
morning session, afternoon session or both sessions. The morning session will be broken into two
topics: Quality in the Food Industry and Quality in Healthcare. The afternoon session will cover two
topics as well: Six Sigma, Lean and Statistical Tools and Business Use of Social Media. There will be a
moderator for each session. You can submit questions or discussion points in advance when you
register for the conference on the Section 1206 website. This will give the moderator an idea of how to
steer the discussions. The conference, like all of our program meetings, is open to anyone. You do not
have to be an ASQ member to attend the conference, so please spread the word if you know someone
that would be interested in attending. They are more than welcome. Invite coworkers, friends,
neighbors, and college students, anyone you can think of. And for members in need of RU’s, this is a
great way to earn them!
It’s that time of year again for ASQ Section leader elections. The board has already made nominations
for the 4 elected positions. A vote will be held at the spring conference if we have enough members in
attendance. We do have several open chair and committee positions and are looking for more board
members. Please let me know if you are interested or just show up at our next board meeting, which
will be held on Tuesday, April 24th at Sebastian’s Steak House in Fond du Lac. Believe me, we have fun
at our board meetings. We have a great team now and would like to add to it.
And last but not least, I also would like to point out that registration is already open on the website for
the May program meeting which will be a tour of the Timber Rattlers stadium followed by a picnic style
dinner at the stadium and of course, a Timber Rattler game. The meeting is on May 7th, which is the
first Monday in May. Our meetings are usually the second Monday in May but due to the T-Rats
schedule, we had to move this up a week. Registration deadline for the May meeting is April 20th and
there is a limit of 40 people for this event, so be sure to register early. It is a popular section event and
will fill up quickly.
