Message from the
Chair. . .
|
|
Greetings to all of you! Hopefully you have taken the opportunity and
attended our September meeting. We have started to make changes in the
meeting format. As part of the business plan for this year, we have an
exciting team working on improving our meetings to bring more information
to you and to enhance the overall meeting itself.
Our section as again achieved Total Quality Status with completing
75% of our business goals last year and surveying our members for your
ideas. The December dinner meeting we will review our goals for the year
and share with you our business plan. You will want to stay on top of the
improvements coming your way. This is an exciting time for our chapter
with the wonderful people we have serving you as volunteers.
There is no better time to keep-up with activities that our chapter
is hosting this year. We have Process Mapping and Rethinking Documentation
in November and Internal Auditor Training for the new standard. Plus,
Bruce Bader is again hosting the CGMgr Refresher Course.
Thank-you in advance of your support and getting involved! There is
no better time to jump-on-board with the fantastic plans we are working on
and working with these terrific people.
See you at the meeting,
Michelle Kilgas

Back by popular demand...
|
|
CQManager Refresher course is back by popular demand. This course is
designed for those who wish to take the CQMgr certification exam but it
also serves as a good overview of quality management. In the spirit of
continuous improvement, we have made some changes.
THINGS THAT ARE THE SAME...
- The material -- the CQMgr Section Refresher Course from
ASQ.
- The approach -- all potential participants are surveyed to
determine the areas of interest and, therefore, the focus of the
course.
- The cost -- $35 per person including snacks. You will need to
contact ASQ to purchase your own materials ($155 for the manual and
handbook, $90 for just the manual).
- The goal -- to expose you to as many areas of quality management
as possible to help you identify areas of weakness and improve your
skills.
THINGS THAT ARE DIFFERENT...
- The meeting times and hours -- four nights: October 29, 31,
November 5 & 7, from 7 pm to 9 pm.
- The location -- Fox Valley Technical College. We will have a
classroom each night.
- Homework review -- because we will be meeting four nights with at
least one day between each class, you will be able to do the homework
and we will discuss it at the next class.
Contact: Bruce Bader at
or 715-526-2181.

| Rethinking
Documentation, Tuesday, November 5 |
| If you feel that you spend more time on
paperwork than you or your customers really need, this is the course for
you. This course is designed for those who will lead the endeavor to
refocus their entire ISO 9000 efforts and help you fit ISO 9000 to the
needs of your organization, rather than fitting your organization into ISO
9000.
The ISO 9001:2000 standard requires only six documented procedures.
The question you will need to answer is: are six enough? If not, how many
do I really need? How do I decide?
After attending, participants will be able to understand the
alternatives (including documentation) used to control results and how to
use cost, risk, customer requirements, and industry norms to select the
most effective method. Documentation of business processes is often a
quick and easy way to achieve results. |

most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short;
but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark. –
