Message from the Chair…. |
|
Greetings fellow ASQ members. I hope this finds you in the midst of a
wonderful holiday season enjoying family, friends, and reflecting on all that we
may be thankful for this year within our own lives.
Once again, our membership is stepping up to the plate to make this
section even better than we are today. Jim Loseke has done quite
a bit of work setting-up a website for our section that looks outstanding. Not to
mention those that are coming forward for the January mini-session and dinner
speaker. Both sound out of this world and something you will not want to miss.
Reflecting back through the program year thus far, all have been outstanding.
As listed in this newsletter, there are plenty of opportunities to be
involved without committing an enormous amount of time and fitting into your
schedule where applicable. Take a look through the list and see where you may be
able to lend a helping hand.
There are many benefits for attending meetings and being involved with the
board that go beyond networking. The new friends you meet and the opportunities
that await you are endless. I challenge each one of you to look at the list from
the November Board Minutes and get involved. See what you can contribute to
enrich not only your careers, but your own lives.

Winnebago Section Chairman

Optional E-Mail Notification
|
|
Last year, we ran into several problems with the newsletter
reaching you in ample time to register for monthly meetings and training
opportunities. If you are interested in having your name added to a mass e-mail
list that would notify of the meeting or Section only activities, please update
your information through ASQ by specifying an e-mail address. If you need help
updating that information, please contact one of the board members. We are very
close to having our own website and you won’t want to miss any opportunities.

| ASQ Section 1206 – November Board Highlights |
|
Date: 11-26-01
|
Time: 5:00 to 7:00 pm |
Place: Schmitz Bros. II,
Hilbert WI. |
|
|
Board members present: Michelle Kilgas, Jim Loseke, Jan Manderle, Jim Wenske |
- Jim Loseke reviewed the financial report. We discussed some of the
costs and where he placed the costs, such as setting up the website
was included in the printing cost. Some items are over budget;
examples: printing costs were higher than expected as was the cost of
postage due to the extra page. We had to pay for the speaker at the
November meeting, thus creating a loss for the meeting. We briefly
discussed some options for speakers at the monthly meetings.
- We discussed a list of jobs/tasks that would be available to
interested volunteers. Jim Loseke will send each of the board members
a contact list. Jim Wenske will contact all the new members. Areas
that we could use help in are:
- Vacant board member positions – Vice Chair, Treasurer,
Newsletter, Education Chair (Jim Loseke volunteered to be the Web
Coordinator for 2002 to 2003).
- Help with registration.
- Setting up mini sessions – including speakers with experience in
management and quality related issues.
- Volunteer company to host tours.
- Summarizing the dinner surveys.
- Reviewing and summarizing the Annual Survey (We will be sending
out this years survey by mail. Next year we will try to set up on
the website to do the annual survey. This will help reduce postage
cost.).
- Coordinating a meeting.
- Setting up tours for future meetings.
- We discussed the website. Jim has asked us to review the website
and get back to him with our thoughts. We talked about putting two
to three questions on the website each month in lieu of the annual
survey. Jim Loseke will talk to Wendy Luecke about summarizing
these questions. Wendy has helped in the past by summarizing the
annual survey. Jim will get back to us if Wendy wants to volunteer
her services. Jim Loseke will summarize the first month or two to
see how it goes.
- Jim Wenske gave us a list of new members. We reviewed the list
for possible volunteers.
The next board meeting is December 17, 2001 at Schmitz Bros. II in
Hilbert, WI from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. All members are welcome to the Board
meeting.

who want to take the C.Q. Manager’s exam identify those areas of weakness
for more study. It also could help those who want to fill in areas of
weakness in their quality management background. This course will be taught
by the Winnebago section’s own Bruce Bader. Bruce has an MBA with a focus
in quality systems. He is certified quality manager who has taught quality
management courses in the past.
Are you interested in such a course? If so, please contact .
If there is enough interest we will set a place and
time for this course. The cost will be enough to cover expenses. So you will
be getting a break over those more expensive courses. If we get enough
interest to start the planning process soon, the participants can help decide on
which topics to concentrate on and which to not spent much time.

Organizational
Trust Leads to Success
|
Today's businesses must be flexible, responsive, and
continually innovative to succeed. For this to happen there must be a high
degree of trust throughout the organization. Leaders need to trust workers
to carry out directives, and employees need to trust in the vision and
direction of the leaders. This is the focus of "The Trust
Imperative", which explains how to develop trust throughout an
organization while improving performance and increasing productivity. For
more information.
